Panasonic smartphones in 2012
Electronicafabrikant Panasonic gaat in maart 2012 zijn smartphones ook in Europa uitbrengen. Het bedrijf hoopt tussen april 2012 en maart 2013 1,5 miljoen smartphones in Europa te verkopen. Normaliter maakt Panasonic alleen smartphones voor de Japanse markt. Het bedrijf wil in Europa een nieuwe water- en stofdichte smartphone lanceren, dat een 4,3 inch Amoled-scherm heeft. Het besturingssysteem voor het apparaat wordt Google Android.
Hoe dit eerste toestel voor de Europese markt gaat heten, is nog onbekend. Panasonic overweegt naast Japan en Europa ook in andere delen van de werled smartphones te gaan verkopen. Op het geografische wensenlijstje van het bedrijf staan ook nog Noord-Amerika en de rest van Azië. Die eventuele verkopen zijn afhankelijk van de reacties op Panasonic-smartphones in Europa.
Panasonic heeft nog nooit smartphones in Europa verkocht, maar wel andere soorten mobiele telefoons. Het stopte daar in 2005 mee, omdat de prijsconcurrentie erg heftig was volgens het bedrijf.
